JANINE LAMANNA
1. What
A&F shows have you done?
I was
fortunate that my first Broadway show was Ragtime! My
second A&F show was soon after with Seussical.
2. My Favorite A&F show is____ because:
My favorite
A&F shows are Ragtime because it was my first Broadway
show and Seussical. Both were incredible experiences
for different reasons. Ragtime was thrilling to do every night
for its classic story telling and ingenious score. I never tired,
in a year and a half, of listening to that music.
And Seussical was very special because of is message
to all, through the eyes of such unique characters. I loved the
diversity in musical styles and was amazed at Lynn's ability to
mesh so perfectly with Dr. Seuss' poetry!
3 ) My
Favorite A&F song My
favorite A&F song is "Forever Yours" from Once
on this Island because of its beautiful vows and pop sentiment.
But, I also will never forget the first time I sang "Ragtime"
on stage with the original cast. The most thrilling moment I can
remember
4) My
favorite A&F memory is :
Walking
into a room filled with Lynn and Steve's energy is pretty amazing.
They are so accessible and down to earth, you sometimes forget
you're about to make Broadway history with them. They asked me
to do this reading of a new show called "Seussical"
and I of course said YES, without even knowing anything about
the show or if I even had a part. On the first day of rehearsal,
Stephen thanked me for joining them, but could see I was not in
the know. He said "You know you're the heroine of the show,
right?" I did not! Lucky me.
I think so much of a person's soul is revealed through their art.
And the depth of feeling that comes from these two writers is
profound. I listen and watch in awe at how they seem to make it
look so easy. Moving one from the daily grind, to a place of joy,
sadness, laughter and self awareness is what the theater is all
about. They do it in spades.
